There’s a book store in Belfast called ‘The Bookstore.’ In short (aside from the unoriginal name) it is the best thing (possibly and very probably) ever (in Belfast)!
It’s impossible to put into words just how many books there are in the place. Check out the photos (and then go there)!!
Now, I especially love it because it has the most insane treasure trove of theo(logy)-nerd books – there’s a lot of standard Christian junk books but even still, there are absurd amounts of good good reads. (There are loads of novels – classics, sci-fi, fantasy etc. – poetry, philosophy, science and so on. It’s absolutely not limited to the theology section I dig.)
Here are a few numbers I’ve picked up in the past few months.
The Word and the World by Emil Brunner
Faith and Reality by Wolfhart Pannenberg
Hope and Planning by Jürgen Moltmann
The Future of Creation by Jürgen Moltmann
The Christian Doctrine of God: Dogmatics Vol. 1 by Emil Brunner
Theology of the World by Johannes Baptist Metz
The Nature and Destiny of Man Pt. 1: Human Nature by Reinhold Niebuhr
The Nature and Destiny of Man Pt. 2: Human Destiny by Reinhold Niebuhr
The Shaking of the Foundations by Paul Tillich
Not the Way it’s Supposed to Be: A Breviary of Sin by Cornelius Plantinga Jr.
Theology in Reconciliation by T.F. Torrance
Basic Questions in Theology by Wolfhart Pannenberg
The Phenomenon of Man by Teilhard de Chardin
The Future of Man by Teilhard de Chardin
The Courage to Be by Paul Tillich
I think I’ve spent, maybe, £56 in there on 16 books and when comparing that to the Amazon prices I’ve saved a fair bit. In short the place is amazing. Get going (though only if you like books, I suppose)!
